PLEASANT VALLEY CREEK Placer Gold Claim $3,000

19.42 hectares / 47.98 acres. The property is located 3.3 kilometres “as the crow flies” east of Barkerville, British Columbia Canada. From Barkerville, proceed 1.5 km east on Barkerville Highway to Bowron Lake Park Rd., west for ~400 metres, turning right (south) on 3100 Rd. (Cunningham Pass FSR), for approx. 4 km. to the property on the west side of Pleasant Valley Creek.

Placer gold deposits of the Quesnel Highland region, including the former rich producers of the Barkerville Camp, have accounted for a large proportion of British Columbia's alluvial gold production. With the exception of a few producers in the Wingdam area, which are underlain by Upper Triassic sediments correlative with the Nicola Group, almost all the deposits are underlain by the Upper Proterozoic to Lower Paleozoic Snowshoe Group. These predominantly metasedimentary rocks have been metamorphosed to greenschist facies.

A total of 101 creeks in this area have reported placer gold production. Recorded gold production from the area totals more than 3.8 million ounces, including an estimated 2.64 million ounces from placer mining.

Data from the Cariboo mining district indicate that supergene leaching of gold dispersed within massive sulphides by Tertiary deep weathering followed by Cenozoic erosion is the most likely explanation for the occurrence of coarse gold nuggets in Quaternary sediments (Exploration in British Columbia 1989, page 147).

In the Antler Creek area, placer gold is mostly hosted near or on top of bedrock in postglacial fluvial gravels. Bedrock comprises mid-Paleozoic Downey succession (Snowshoe Group) chloritic schist, marble and phyllite. The auriferous gravels are covered by 1 to 5 metres of barren fine-grained alluvium.

Approximately 6 kilometres northeast of the property along Antler Creek near Monkton Creek, testing of gravels has been undertaken. From test pits the average thickness is assumed to be 2 metres of pay sand and gravel and the potential volume is estimated to be 2,600,000 cubic yards (1,987,960 cubic metres). Based on assay results, this volume is estimated to average $27.00 U.S. per cubic yard with gold at $400 per ounce (Property File - Big Strike Resources Prospectus Nov. 1988). Testing in adjacent areas by Canadian Gravity Recovery Inc. was unable to confirm these results (George Cross Newsletter #162, Aug. 1989).

The Guyet Placer (4 kilometres southeast) was previously drifted on in the 1890s, then later hydraulicked until the 1950s. During the hydraulicking a pit was washed, measuring about 548 metres in length, 137 metres wide and 146 metres deep (estimated). All the overburden and pay gravels were washed down the gulch and into the 183 metre deep (estimated) Antler Creek Canyon.

In 2008, Logan Resources Ltd., performed a mobile metal ion survey on their overlying mineral tenures, recorded under ARIS report 31096. A significant gold anomaly was detected (page 15 of 146 of their report) along with several other heavier element anomalies (As, Ag, Cu, W and Bi) that underlie, in whole or in part, the claim boundaries of the current placer tenure. The significance of their results may infer a) favourable gold mineralization in the underlying rock units, or b) the natural alluvial, fluvial and glacial concentration of metals in the area. Both of which are very encouraging to prompt development work here.

In 2012, Barkerville Gold Mines announces a NI 43-101 Compliant Indicated Resource of 10,626,100 oz's Gold on Cow Mtn with a NI 43-101 Compliant Geological Potential of 65 - 90 Million oz's Gold in an Area Encompassing Approximately 10% of its Cariboo Gold Project, 5 km. west of the property.

A large placer tenure adjacent to the northwest property boundary (and approx. 5 acres overlapped) was successfully converted to lease and is active.

Barkerville is one of the most sought after placer areas since its discovery during the Cariboo Gold Rush, offering limited opportunities for staking. With the strong mobile metal ion anomaly, the underlying ground partially being crown land, good water in the area, new discoveries of considerable scale and adjacent properties permitted for mining leases, this represents an opportunity to further develop your own highly prospective placer gold property.
