PETER GULCH CREEK PLACER GOLD CLAIM $10,000 Reduced to only $3000! 192.81 Acres / 78.03 Acres. Road accessible, the property is located 33km southeast of Barkerville, as the crow flies, in Central British Columbia, Canada. The property is positioned to encompass key drainages of alluvial material found as fine and flour gold, mineralized boulders mineralized float and gold nuggets. Data from the Cariboo mining district indicate that supergene leaching of gold dispersed within massive sulphides by Tertiary deep weathering followed by Cenozoic erosion is the most likely explanation for the occurrence of coarse gold nuggets in Quaternary sediments (Exploration in British Columbia 1989, page 147). The region is underlain by Hadrynian to Paleozoic Snowshoe Group rocks, which occur within the Barkerville Terrane of south central British Columbia. These metasedimentary rocks consist primarily of marble, quartzite and phyllite which in the area of the Peter Gulch showings comprise the Downey succession. Metamorphism of the region varies from chlorite grade to sillimanite and higher. The lode gold deposits of the region occur in rocks metamorphosed no higher than greenschist facies. The Peter Gulch showings occur adjacent and are similar to the Cariboo-Hudson (93A 071) occurrence but at a lower elevation. In addition to quartz veins with sulphides, a replacement deposit occurs within limestone in a zone up to 1.2 metres wide near the mouth of Pearce Creek. Mineralization in this deposit consists of galena, sphalerite, pyrrhotite and pyrite. A 2.4 metre-wide shear zone in schist is reported to contain nodules or lenses of scheelite. The Cariboo Hudson Gold Mine, Minfile 093A071, the Bralco Gold showing, Minfile 093A103 and the Sterling Gold showing, Minfile 093A107are all just several hundred metres upstream of the claim. The Copper Creek Gold showing, Minfile 093A172 occurs 120M (downstream) north of the north boundary. The Cariboo Thompson Mine, Minfile 093A091 is also situated 300m downstream. The Copper Creek Skarn Mine, Past Producer Minfile 093A090 occurs 550m east-northeast from the northeast border of the property before its confluence with Cunningham Creek. Alluvial gravels derived from and overlying Snowshoe Group rocks were deposited within creeks draining the region. The deposit covers operations which extend for about 300 metres up Peter Gulch from its confluence with Crazy Creek (Minfile 093A094). Surrounded by past producers and showings the property would be a great fit for placer gold prospectors as well as collectors looking for unique specimens.
