BEHOLDER Silver Copper Prospect 1166.4 acres. Minfile 093L008 ARIS report 7134 The Beholder Silver Copper mining claims are located 12 km SW of Highway 16 at Houston, British Columbia on the E shoulder of Morice Mountain. Access is obtained by trail that has been bulldozed into the area. Property is underlain by Hazelton group dacitic and andesitic volcanic flows of the lower Jurassic Telkwa formation. Rounded hills incised by Peacock Creek. Mineralization occurs in vuggy quartz veins that carry tetrahedrite, bornite, and traces of chalcopyrite. Quartz veins are classic epithermal with vugs, cockscomb structures and breccia fragments indicative of surface providence. The mineralization often exhibits spectacular crystal formation in the interior of the vugs—embedded in the well-formed quartz crystals. In 1928, Kidd Price and the current owner/prospectors great great Uncle, Martin Bellicini, were partners on the then named Peacock property. A vein of peacock ore was discovered in a vein running on a ninety-degree (azimuth) bearing. An eight-foot square vertical shaft sunk on the vein was blasted to a depth of sixty feet. A one-and-a-half foot wide vein mainly bearing tetrahedrite ran the depth of the shaft and must have exhibited a steep dip. The ore assayed 160 opt silver. In the process of mining the vein, the shaft filled with water one night and the next morning the prospectors realized they did not have the capability to continue on. A 1930 sample on file assayed 1.4 gpt gold, 82.3 gpt silver, and 0.8% copper. In 1978, Placer Development Ltd. sampled sediment, water and rock, with a follow soil geochemical analyses totaling 135 tests. Assessment reports mention a shaft driven in sheared andesitic volcanics exposed pyrite, chalcopyrite, copper carbonates, and specularite at 1420m elevation, but assay results were inconsistent with 1928 descriptions. The terrain surrounding the shaft site is rough and vegetation is generally thick. Ultimately, the shaft site was discovered at 1202 m. A 2003 prospecting report was completed. Historic and current development information is available. Assay Highlights: Shaft area: 161 opt Ag, 4.0% Cu. North vein quartz sample: 0.78 ppm Au.
