THE Australian stock market opened weaker after commodity prices fell overnight and Wall Street experienced losses. BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto's share prices fell.

Energy stocks helped take the Toronto stock market higher in early trading as oil prices continued to rise. New York markets were also positive ahead of key economic reports later in the session, including minutes from the Federal Reserve meeting last month.
